An all-star lineup of all female vocalists and musicians met up in January to create “She Sang,” which serves as more than just a theme song for the film; it’s a powerful anthem that embodies the film’s message.
Vocalists included Karen Waldrup, a finalist on The Voice; Deborah Allen, known for her ‘80s hits Baby I Lied and I’ve Been Wrong Before; radio personality Devon O’Day; Becky Hobbs, a songwriter for such legends as Loretta Lynn, Helen Reddy, and even KISS; plus Jonell Mosser, Ariel Jade, Robin Ruddy, Odessa Settles, Justyna Kelley and Renee Martin.
They were backed by an accomplished group of female musicians, including Anita Cochran and Robin Ruddy on guitar, Alison Prestwood on bass, Catherine Marx on piano, and Nancy Gardner on drums.
Songwriters Dona Hodge Nichols and Wood Newton hovered near the sound board, offering input and listening as the chorus rang through Parlor Productions, the Nashville studio owned by the song’s third writer, Robin Ruddy.
